What we grow
What do we grow, you ask? Over the past three seasons, we grew tomatoes, eggplant, okra, peppers, squash, cucumbers, radishes, beets, carrots, broccoli, collards, brussell sprouts, swiss chard, mustard greens, elephant and russian kale, to which we added herbs, bok choi, shitake mushrooms, zinnias and goats this season. We will try any vegetable we feel we can reasonably maintain. We are still learning what, when and how to grow certain vegetables so until we conquer or are conquered by pest and predators, we will forge ahead and try any vegetable that fits our fancy. This spring we doubled the quaintity of most items (three hundred plus tomato plants) and tried a few new varieties of others. This past winter we also innoculated hardwood logs for mushrooms and are anxiously anticipating their appearance hopefully in September of this year. Pictured below are broccoli, heirloom tomatoes and swiss chard.
